Minimal-Effort Air Fryer Chicken, Done the Easy Way

This is the kind of chicken you make when you’re tired but still want something warm and homemade. No long marinades, no extra steps — just seasoned chicken, hot air, and a result that feels more put together than the effort suggests.

Ingredients

  • 700 g / 1½ lb chicken thighs or drumsticks
  • 1½ tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp sweet paprika
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp dried thyme or oregano
  • Salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper

Optional finish

  • Lemon wedges
  • A pinch of chili flakes
  • Fresh herbs (only if you have them)

Instructions

  1. Season directly.
Put the chicken in a bowl, drizzle with olive oil, add paprika, garlic powder, herbs, salt, and pepper. Rub everything in with your hands — no need to be neat.
  2. Load and forget.
Place the chicken in the air fryer basket in a single layer. It doesn’t need to be perfect.
  3. Cook hands-off.
Air fry at 190°C / 375°F for 20–25 minutes, turning once halfway through.
  4. Check and finish.
The skin should be golden and the meat cooked through. If needed, give it 2–3 extra minutes.
  5. Rest briefly.
Let the chicken sit for 3 minutes before serving. That’s it.

Typical Mistakes:

  • Over-seasoning — simple works best here
  • Skipping oil completely (the chicken dries out)
  • Opening the basket too often
  • Cooking straight from the fridge without resting the meat for a minute

Season, cook, eat. Some days that’s all you need.
