These little parcels are all about flavor packed into a small bite — crisp on the outside, deeply savory inside. They’re the kind of food you make for a relaxed evening, eaten with your hands, still warm, while the kitchen smells lightly toasted and fragrant.
Ingredients
For the filling
- 250 g / 9 oz ground chicken or pork
- 1 spring onion, finely sliced
- 1 garlic clove, grated
- 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- Freshly ground black pepper
For the parcels
- 10–12 square dumpling or wonton wrappers
- Neutral oil spray or a light brushing of oil
To serve (optional)
- Soy sauce, chili oil, or rice vinegar
- Fresh herbs (cilantro or chives)
Instructions
- Build the flavor first.
In a bowl, mix the ground meat with spring onion, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, and pepper. Stir just until combined — don’t overwork it. - Fill without excess.
Place a small spoonful of filling in the center of each wrapper. Too much makes sealing difficult. - Shape casually.
Bring the corners up around the filling and pinch lightly, forming a loose pouch. Imperfect folds are fine — they crisp better. - Prepare for air frying.
Lightly oil the outside of each parcel. Arrange them in the air fryer basket with space between. - Cook until crisp.
Air fry at 190°C / 375°F for 9–11 minutes, turning once, until golden and crunchy. - Rest briefly.
Let them sit for 1–2 minutes before serving so the filling settles.
Serving Ideas:
- Serve as a snack with dipping sauces
- Add to a simple salad for a light dinner
- Pair with steamed greens or cucumber salad
- Best eaten fresh while still crisp
